Uganda international Bevis Mugabi said he had no idea he had surpassed a long-standing Cristiano Ronaldo record as he plays for Motherwell in Scotland’s top flight.
Mugabi made history in football when he scored in a league match against Ross County in 2021 by leaping as high as 8 feet and 6 inches off the ground.
He broke Ronaldo’s legendary 8-foot-5-inch leap record, which he set while playing for Juventus during the 2019 season.
Mugabi has now commented on the record-breaking leap, months after it was set.
According to the Ugandan defender, he had no idea he had broken Ronaldo’s record until his brother informed him of the news.

The 26-year-old also said that his only goal for the game was to help Motherwell get three points.
“I honestly didn’t have an idea that I had done it until after the game when my brother called me and said I had jumped high but at that time I wasn’t really focusing on that as my aim was to get three points for the team,” the lanky defender was quoted saying by Fufa’s official website.
“I am happy it was the winning goal and got the vital points that we needed at that time,” he added.
