The Reason Behind Lionel Messi Leaving Barcelona For PSG

Lionel Messi has finally departed from Barcelona to continue his football Journey at PSG on a two-year contract. This is after his 21-year stay at Barcelona. The football legend arrived in Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday to complete move to the the club. This was to finalize a deal that is worth £25m plus additional bonuses per year after tax.

Messi, who will receive a £25m as fee, was set to extend his 21-year stay at Barcelona. It was to be done by signing a new five-year deal this summer.

Barcelona, on Thursday, announced that the deal cannot be completed due to financial and structural problems. Messi had no other option than to exit the club as a free agent. According to the Barcelona star, he wanted to stay and did everything to remain at the team. He even included agreeing to a 50 percent wage cut but Barcelona couldn’t meet such request.

Barcelona is entangled by La Liga’s rules on club spending and even reducing Messi’s pay by 50%. That was not enough to guarantee the player’s stay at the club. Lionel Messi is now at PSG ready to win various major trophies with the club. They include the Champions League, which is the key factor for his decision to move to France.
