Sadio Mane Snubs Handshake From President of Senegal To Copy Firmino Celebration

Sadio Mane left the president of Senegal hanging after snubbing a handshake during a medal ceremony following their African Cup of Nations success.
On Sunday, the Liverpool midfielder scored the game-winning penalty as Senegal beat Egypt to win the tournament for the first time. President Macky Sall handed Mane with a medal during a ceremony in Senegal to congratulate him and his teammates in front of a large crowd of fans.
Sall offered a congratulatory handshake to the fans as Mane turned away. Instead, the striker took advantage of the opportunity to imitate a celebration popularized by club teammate Roberto Firmino.
Fans have reacted to the footage on social media, with SamuelLFC tweeting: ‘The best part is that he ignored the handshake only to copy Bobby’s celebration.’
The AFCON victory has sparked wild celebrations across the country, with Mane serving as the face of the team’s triumph after decisively scoring the game-winning penalty. Mane is well-known for emulating his teammates’ celebrations, with Firmino being a frequent source of inspiration.
Mane’s brace against Chelsea in their UEFA Super Cup victory in 2019 was one of the most renowned examples of the pair’s joking about it.
Firmino replied to an Instagram post by Mane: ‘Sadii don’t copy me please.’
Mane jokingly responded: ‘Huh? It’s different to yours Bobby! This going to be my new celebration for the season. Don’t already discourage me.’
