Robert Lewandowski Says He Will Not Play FIFA World Cup Playoffs Against Russia

Lewandowski has announced that he would not play in the FIFA World Cup qualifier against Russia. The Poland star added his voice to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. If Poland insists on playing Russia in the World Cup playoffs, the striker vows he will never play for them.

The FIFA World Cup playoffs are set to begin next month, with several nations competing against one another. They will compete against other countries from their respective continents. This will also occur in Africa, North America, Europe, and other parts of the world.

Due to Russia’s invasion on Ukraine, Robert Lewandowski will not play for Poland against Russia, according to the National Football Federation.

“It is the right decision. I can’t imagine playing a match with the Russian national team in a situation when armed aggression in Ukraine continues. Russian footballers and fans are not responsible for this, but we can’t pretend nothing is happening”, Robert Lewandowski wrote on Twitter.
