Rio Ferdinand Names Best Player Likely To Take Over Mount at Chelsea

Conor Gallagher has been predicted by Rio Ferdinand to break into the Chelsea first team next season. Ferdinand has also stated that he believes the midfielder is likely to replace Mason Mount.

Gallagher has been in excellent form with Crystal Palace on loan this season, scoring seven goals in the Premier League. The loanee has improved his game to the point where he is being tipped to be the next big thing to leave Stamford Bridge.

He reportedly told Ferdinand early this season that he wanted to succeed at Chelsea and had no intention of staying at Palace. The Manchester United star believes the midfielder should be agressive about it in training and fight his way into Thomas Tuchel’s mindset.

The Blues have yet to make a decision on Gallagher’s future, and Tuchel has stated that now is not the time to do so. The German boss wants the midfielder to complete his loan at Palace and return to Stamford Bridge in the summer for preseason training.

Tuchel reportedly wanted to keep the midfielder in his first-team squad, but Palace’s loan offer was too tempting to pass up. Gallagher has made great progress at Selhurst Park as a result of the move.
