N’Golo Kante has sent a heartbreaking note to teammate Callum Hudson-Odoi following Chelsea’s victory in the Club World Cup final on Saturday.
Hudson- Odoi’s cross was headed in by Romelu Lukaku to give the Blues the lead, and Kai Havertz sealed the victory with an extra-time penalty to earn them their first Club World Cup victory.
Kante joked with Hudson-Odoi after the game that he can now call himself a World Champion.
“Now you can say you’re a World Champion, like me!” Kante joked, as eyes lit up with delight.
Hudson-Odoi, on the other hand, refuse to take praise for his outstanding performance in the final and instead credited Kante.
“He was spotted all everywhere. He is everywhere at all times of the day and night. I’m delighted for him; he’s come out on top in every category”, Odoi said.
However, Hudson-Odoi deserves credit for assisting Lukaku net a first goal for Chelsea, a superb cross that the Belgian powered in to make it 1-0.
Chelsea will play Crystal Palace in the Premier League next weekend.
