Paris Saint-Germain, Lionel Messi, recently fired the whole staff of a prominent hotel after purchasing a luxury hotel. The former Barcelona legend is well-known for his hotel and property businesses.
The luxurious hotel in Sotogrande was recently bought by MIM Hotels Group, Lionel Messi’s hotel network. The hotel is situated in one of Cádiz’s most prestigious areas.
The well-known hotel in San Roque is a highly regarded vacation destination for the rich. Messi, the former Barcelona captain, is well-known for his business acumen, having acquired several high-profile properties.
Messi, purchasing the hotel isn’t a noteworthy since he has acquired a number of properties throughout this years. However, the hotel group, has fired the entire staff of around 40 people at the moment.
San Roque Mayor Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix termed the firing as a “blow to the town” because no justification was given. Ruiz Boix is said to have made contact with the group in an attempt to negotiate a change of heart on the decision.
“The hotel has a regular number of clients, with families who spend the summer there for more than 20 years. We are not going to allow the first decision to be the dismissal of great professionals, men and women who have the mayor’s support and who must be incorporated into their jobs”, the mayor said, according to Europa Sur.
“I had a staff with 25 to 30 years of experience, and the first news they received from the new hotel group was their dismissal!”, the mayor continued. Ruiz Boix expressed his dissatisfaction with the decision.
Leonel Messi’s hotel group has sacked all of the staff of a luxury hotel that he purchased in Cádiz, in what is a common action following a hotel buyout and may be in violation of EU labor law.
