Paul Merson has advised Chelsea to offer Antonio Rudiger whatever he wants in order to keep him at the club.
The former Arsenal player believes the German is an integral part of the Blues starting XI and should not be allowed to leave for nothing this summer.
Rudiger’s contract at the club expires at the end of the season, and he has yet to sign a new agreement. According to reports, the former AS Roma defender turned down the club’s initial offer because he wanted a higher contract.
“Give him the money,” Merson commented following Chelsea’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace.
Rudiger has pointed out many times that he has no intention of leaving the club unless his demands are met. He went on to say that he was enjoying himself at Stamford Bridge, and that his future was no longer in his hands.
The Blues have a busy week ahead of them, with a Champions League match against Lille and a Carabao Cup final against Liverpool the following weekend.
