Just weeks after expressing unhappiness with Thomas Tuchel’s tactics, Romelu Lukaku is making waves again off the pitch with a cryptic remark on social media.
On Friday evening, the Belgian stated on his Snapchat account, ‘If you have to force it, it probably doesn’t fit.’
While the message may be about anything, there’s nothing to indicate it was aimed as a hit at Chelsea. It comes barely a month after Lukaku was forced to apologise to the club following an unpleasant interview with Sky in Italy.
In an interview with the Italian broadcaster at the end of December, the 28-year-old revealed that a return to Stamford Bridge had only become a serious possibility after his demand for a new contract was turned down by Inter Milan due to financial restrictions.
Following his interview with Sky in Italy on January 2, Lukaku was dropped for the Premier League game against Liverpool, but returned just days later for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham.
Lukaku has started each of Chelsea’s last eight games in all competitions since his apology, scoring against Chesterfield in the FA Cup third round and Al-Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final earlier this week.
