Luka Modric Reveals Chelsea Are The Most Difficult Team To Play Against In UEFA Champions League

Following Real Madrid’s 5-4 UEFA Champions League victory over Chelsea, Luka Modric stated, “Chelsea is a really difficult team to play with.”

Last week, Los Blancos defeated Thomas Tuchel’s team 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in the first leg of the quarter-final, with Karim Benzema scoring a hat-trick.

Chelsea, on the other hand, led 3-0 in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday, before being overtaken. Rodrygo came off the bench to break a tie in extra time, and Benzema scored the game-winning goal in the 96th minute.

After the game, Modric, who assisted Rodrygo’s major striker, hailed Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment as manager, describing Chelsea as “the toughest team to play against,” and praising Chelsea as “the toughest team to play against.”

“I think [Ancelotti] made a big change. They did well, they had a great impact on the game,” Modric said.

“Certainly in this tournament the experience is important, I think today helped us a little.

“But we knew that after the first game it would be a tough game. For me it is a very difficult team to play against.

“I admire them very much because of my friend Mateo [Kovacic], they are a very strong and strong team, very united, and we knew it was going to be tough. But in the end we also showed good character, desire, and unity and he was able to turn it around”.
