Kylian Mbappe scored three minutes into stoppage time to give Paris St Germain a 1-0 win against Rennes in Ligue 1 on Friday. PSG is now 16 points ahead of second-placed Marseille, who play against struggling Metz on Sunday in the Champions League.
Rennes came within three minutes of becoming only the second club this season to beat PSG at the Parc des Princes, but they were caught pressing forward and were punished by a fast counter attack.
Mbappe was set up by Lionel Messi, who calmly converted after coming close to winning victory for his side earlier.
Just before halftime, a deflected Mbappe shot hit the post, and he scored midway through the second half, but VAR judged him offside. Rennes remained in fifth place in the Ligue 1 standings.
