Asante Kotoko failed to reclaim top spot in the Ghana Premier League after being held to a 1-1 draw by WAFA at the Len Clay Stadium on Saturday.
The Porcupine Warriors took an early lead through Ismail Ganiyu but were pegged back towards the end of the first half, thanked to a towering header from Justus Torsutsey.
Despite enjoying the larger share of possession and creating some chances in the second half, Mariano Barreto’s side couldn’t find the winner.
The result means Kotoko are currently level on 46 points with Hearts of Oak, but sit in second due to their rivals’ superior goal differences.
The Phobians leapfrogged Kotoko after defeating Techiman Eleven Wonders by a lone goal on Friday afternoon.
This is the first time in five years that Hearts are occupying the top of the league, having struggled in recent years.
