Government Set To Tax All Betting Companies – Minister Of Finance

The Government of Ghana would not wait too long to tax all betting companies. As a result of unregulated gaming activities, the government loses close to GHC 300 million every year to betting companies.

The finance minister stated that this fee is one of the government’s innovative revenue collection methods. He made this remark when presenting the 2022 budget to Parliament.

Gaming has become one of the most profitable sources of income for people all around the world. It is also a significant source of revenue for governments. The introduction of online betting and automatic payment has changed the industry’s source of revenue.

However, the gaming business will henceforth be co-supervised jointly by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of the Interior. Stakeholders will be consulted soon in order to build a comprehensive means of improving betting revenue.

This means that the government will start taxing all aspects of gaming. From the time you buy a ticket to the time you win, receive your winnings, you’ll be subject to taxes. The Minister of Finance made these remarks while reading the 2022 budget in Parliament.
