George Weah Sends Heartbreaking Message To Mohamed Salah And Mane Regarding Ballon D’Or

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane have been outstanding for Liverpool this season in the Premier League and across all competitions.

Former PSG striker George Weah has advised these two players to focus on their game rather than becoming obsessed with the Ballon d’Or. 

George Weah is the only African player in history to have won the Ballon d’Or award in 1995. 

Liberian president George Weah has warned Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane not to put undue pressure on themselves to win the Ballon d’Or this year. 

Lionel Messi, who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, is the current Ballon d’Or winner, having defeated the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Kylian Mbappe in the previous award ceremony.

Based on their performances for Liverpool so far this season, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah have both been tipped to compete for the Ballon d’Or award this season. 

However, according to a GOAL report, George Weah stated that Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane should focus on their game at Liverpool.

“They shouldn’t obsess over the Ballon d’Or, rather they should focus on their performances and try to improve more.

 “Salah and Mane should not] put unnecessary pressure on themselves. I always worked hard to get my family out of poverty, that’s how I was awarded the Ballon d’Or.”
