Galatasaray 1-2 Barcelona: Pedri & Aubameyang’s Superb Strike Sends Barca Into Europa League Quarter Final

Barcelona qualified to the Europa League quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat Galatasaray 2-1 in Istanbul.

The hosts took an early lead thanks to a header from Marcao, but Pedri and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang helped the Blaugrana hit back.

After 10 minutes, Barcelona had their first big chance of the game when Frenkie De Jong found himself one-on-one with Inaki Pena, but his effort flew just wide of the far post.

After 28 minutes, Galatasaray took the lead as Marcao met an outswinging corner with a spectacular header.

Barcelona equalized nine minutes later, thanks to a sensational Pedri goal. Ferran Torres delivered the 19-year-old with a superb reverse pass, and the youngster made no mistake in despite avoiding two slide challenges.

Four minutes after the restart, the Blaugrana took the lead as the ball found its way to De Jong in the box, who nodded the ball to Aubameyang, who scored from close range.

The game became a tactical masterstroke after that, with Barcelona controlling possession and forcing Galatasaray back, but they were unable to extend their lead.

However, the home team did have a handful of chances. Kerem got in behind the Barcelona defense and raced towards goal, but his cross to Morutan was too far ahead of the player. Mohamed fired a shot just wide.

Barcelona appeared to have closed up the tie in additional time when Ferran Torres found himself in space in the area, but his chipped effort sailed over the bar, prompting the assistant referee to raise his flag to signal offside.
