According to FIFA, Ghana’s ranking on the African continent has dropped in the most recent FIFA rankings. In FIFA’s latest rankings, released on Thursday, February 10, the Black Stars have dropped to ninth position.
Ghana was ranked 1428.97 points in December 2021, slightly higher compared to 1381.45 points in February 2021.
As a result, the four-time African champions were excluded from the list of top 10 best male national teams in Africa. Burkina Faso has now taken Ghana’s place after finishing fourth at the AFCON in 2021.
Senegal, the reigning African champions, has climbed two places in the international rankings to take over first place on the continent. The top five countries are Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, and Tunisia.
Cameroon has risen from seventh to sixth place in the AFCON standings, while Algeria has dropped from third to seventh. Algeria won the African Cup of Nations for the first time in 2019. Mali, Ivory Coast, and Burkina Faso, in that order, round out the top 10 African countries, according to the most recent rankings.
