Some Ghanaian supporters at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja had to be evacuated from the stands after being attacked by Nigerians.
The incident occurred after the Black Stars drew with Nigeria’s Super Eagles to clinch a place in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to a report from the stadium by Ghanaian media, some of the supporters had to be pushed onto the pitch to prevent the attacks.
After the final whistle, the Nigerians went on a rampage, trashing everything in sight at the majestic Abiola Stadium.
According to reports, the police had to use tear gas and whips to get the scene under control.
William Troost-Ekong scored a penalty to cancel out Thomas Partey’s early goal as the Black Stars held their West African opponents to a crucial draw, securing their place in Qatar 2022 on away goals after a goalless draw in Kumasi in the first leg of the tie.
