Chelsea have finally announced the Signing of Raheem Sterling from Manchester city. The England forward could be the player that will replace Romelu Lukaku at Chelsea.
Thomas Tuchel is beginning to rebuild his squad as many players have departed this summer. After they failed to land Raphinha, they have finally signed Raheem Sterling and could soon complete Kalidou Koulibaly’s deal.
Sterling could be the player who will break the number nine curse at Chelsea. The Englishman could be the next Didier Drogba of Chelsea. Let’s take a look at how Sterling’s Premier league statistics relates to that of Didier Drogba.
The Retired Ivorian striker scored 104 goals and provided 64 assists in 254 premier league games for Chelsea. Whereas Raheem Sterling scored 109 goals and provided 77 assists in 320 premier league games for both Manchester city and Liverpool.
Chelsea will be the third Premier league club that Raheem Sterling will be playing for, while Chelsea is the only Premier league club that Drogba played for during his football days. However, both Didier Drogba and Raheem Sterling won four titles each.
Judging based on the goals and assists per game, it is obvious that Drogba is more clinical and productive infront of the goal than Sterling, oweing to the fact that he played fewer games than the Englishman. Sterling will be the player that will be leading Chelsea’s attacking line next season.
He still has the chances of reaching the 200-goal mark in Premier league. He has proven that he is one of the best forwards in the Europe’s top five leagues and cost Chelsea a transfer fee of 45 million Euros.
Chelsea could still bring in a right winger who will provide support for Raheem sterling in the attacking line. How many goals can Sterling score for Chelsea next season?
