Manchester City were held to a 0-0 draw by a stubborn Crystal Palace on Monday Night Football, giving Liverpool the Premier League title lead.
Palace were looking for a league record over City for the first time since 1987/88 in the second league, and they put up a strong fight as Pep Guardiola’s team was upset by the stalemate at Selhurst Park.
After Kevin De Bruyne struck the inside of the post just before the hour mark, an inspired Vicente Guaita brilliantly denied Riyad Mahrez with an amazing stop.
Only two teams have prevented Pep Guardiola’s Man City from scoring across both Premier League games in a single season:

After Joao Cancelo’s speculative attempt in the first half shot straight off the post, Aymeric Laporte blazed his rebound over the crossbar, it was the visitors’ second time hitting the woodwork.
City pushed for a goal in the second half but couldn’t get past Guaita, guaranteeing title rivals Liverpool can close the gap to one point if they win their game in hand against Arsenal on Wednesday evening, live on Sky Sports.
