The Blues thrashed Crystal Palace 2-0 in the FA Cup semi-finals, sending them to the final against Liverpool next month. Chelsea’s goals came from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount.
Loftus-Cheek, who came on in the first half to replace the injured Mateo Kovacic, pounced on a loose ball in the area, and his vicious drive was assisted by Joachim Andersen on its way to the net 20 minutes later.
Mount effectively put the game out of reach. 14 minutes from time, he played a one-two with Timo Werner on the edge of the Palace area before waltzing towards goal and slotting home.
Palace will be frustrated that two headed chances, before and after the Chelsea goals, from corners Cheikhou Kouyate and Joachim Anderson, failed to strike the target.
In today’s win for Thomas Tuchel’s men, one man stood out. Timo Werner, a Chelsea and Germany forward, was named the Emirates man of the match today after a brilliant performance against Crystal Palace. Werner was instrumental in Chelsea’s victory today.
