Real Madrid revived their hopes of qualifying for the next stage of the UEFA Champions League by defeating Chelsea 3-1 in the first leg of their quarter-final clash on Wednesday evening at Stamford Bridge.
Real Madrid defeated the hosts in front of their home fans thanks to three goals from Karim Benzema.
Afterward, Thibaut Courtois, an ex-Chelsea goalkeeper, talks about how the game went for Real Madrid as they beat the Blues at Stamford Bridge.
There former Chelsea man Thibaut Courtois said, “It’s a good victory at a ground that’s always difficult to come to. We started well against a team who are very intense. We created chances, hit the crossbar, scored two goals, and missed two others.
“Their goal was pity. I managed to get a touch but not well enough to stop it, but then we started the second half directly with a goal.
“We can’t think it’s done. They could re-enter the game with an early goal.We have to play our game with our fans pushing us on, like against Paris, and play as if we were level and needed to win the game. ”
