CHE 1-1 MUN: Casemiro last-minute header earns Manchester United a point against Chelsea

Casemiro scored a last minute equaliser to give Manchester United a point against Chelsea after Scott McTominay gave away a stonewall penalty in a frantic finish at Stamford Bridge.

With the score at 0-0, McTominay was marking fellow sub Armando Broja very tightly from a corner.

Broja pushed him away after the Scotland international first put his hands on him but then McTominay continued to be all over the Chelsea striker when the ball was whipped in.

That prompted Stuart Attwell to immediately point to the spot and despite protests from the opposition players, the decision was final.

Jorginho stepped up and sent David de Gea the wrong way with a cool penalty that looked like it would deliver a first Premier League win over United since November 2017.

But United levelled in the dying embers when Casemiro directed a brilliant header goalwards, Kepa Arrizabalaga parrying the ball against the post but seeing it roll over the line ever so closely.

He immediately scrambled to collect the ball but the referee’s watch signalled it was indeed a goal and United’s No.18 celebrated in crazy fashion with the travelling supporters.

The former Real Madrid man oozed passion after notching his first goal for United since making a £70 million switch in the summer.

Prior to the Casemiro header, Kepa had gone 623 minutes without conceding a goal in between the sticks for Chelsea.

The draw means Chelsea remain a point ahead of fifth-placed United, who are five goals behind them when it comes to goal difference.
