Blues player ratings as Kai Havertz penalty secures another trophy

Chelsea won the Club World Cup for the first time on Saturday, beating Palmeiras 2-1 in the final in Abu Dhabi.

After Raphael Veiga had equalized Romelu Lukaku’s opener in regulation time, Kai Havertz scored the game-winning goal from the penalty spot in the 117th minute. It was a tough matchup in the first half, with nothing separating the two squads.

However , the European champions, took the lead thanks to a Lukaku header in the 55th minute. Palmeiras, the Copa Libertadores champions, battled their way back into the game with Veiga’s penalty kick after Thiago Silva was penalized for a handball.

Chelsea were given a lifeline when Luan Garcia blocked Azpilicueta’s shot with his arm, avoiding a penalty shootout. Havertz came up to take the penalty kick and made no mistake, restoring Chelsea’s lead, which was finally enough.
