As reported by the Daily Mail, Barcelona president Joan Laporta was recently asked about Ronaldo and whether the Blaugrana did try to secure his services.

Laporta explained that they only wanted Robert Lewandowski and they got what they wanted. ‘We have a very good relationship with Jorge Mendes (Ronaldo’s agent).

I have known him for a long time. He is one of the best player agents. But in this case, we decided to go for Lewandowski and he was crucial to our success,” he said. He added that stories about Ronaldo being linked with numerous clubs were common during the transfer period and there were always contradictory news about it.
