Angel Di Maria and Messi Masterclass sees Argentina claim inaugural Finalissima title

Argentina defeated Italy thanks to goals from Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria, and Paulo Dybala.

In the middle of the field, Lionel Messi was a little maestro, continually pressing the Italian defense and goal.

Argentina won the inaugural La Finalissima title at Wembley Stadium, cruising past an underperforming Italy.

The inaugural La Finalissima was won by Argentina. Lautaro Martinez, Angel Di Maria, and Paulo Dybala scored goals to help La Albiceleste upset Italy in a one-game match at Wembley.

Although Argentina dominated the first half, it was Italy who had the only goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes.

Emiliano Martinez was forced to make a save by Giacomo Raspadori and Andrea Belotti in the Argentinian goal.

Argentina then stepped up their game, with Lionel Messi at the forefront. Messi came close to breaking the Italian defense on several occasions, and he finally succeeded in the 28th minute when he set up Martinez for Argentina’s first goal.

Martinez then took on the role of provider by setting up di Maria. Martinez snatched the ball at the half-way mark and tore it down the field. He then supplied di Maria, who chipped Gianluigi Donnarumma gently and audaciously to put Argentina up 2-0 at halftime.

Both teams began the second half more slowly and carefully, seeking to avoid conceding an early goal.

Argentina’s first chance of the second half was saved by Donnarumma, who made a fantastic save.

To prevent the ball from settling into the top corner, the Italian goalkeeper had to dive to his right. Di Maria came close to scoring a game-winning goal minutes later.

Di Maria’s first-time shot was punched away by Donnarumma after Messi’s corner found him on the edge of the box.
