Adidas Ends Sponsorship Deal With West Ham Defender Kurt Zouma Over Cat-Attack Video

West Ham Defender Kurt Zouma has lost his Adidas sponsorship after being caught on camera kicking and slapping his pet cat.

Following the disgusting footage, which was first released on Snapchat by his brother Yoan, the 27-year-old has been fined £250,000 by West Ham, and his two cats have been seized by the RSPCA.

West Ham manager David Moyes controversially chose to play Zouma in his side’s 1-0 win over Watford on Tuesday evening, regardless of the fact that the French defender was booed by both sets of fans.

Vitality has already confirmed that its sponsorship contract with West Ham has been suspended following Zouma’s actions. However, in response to the video, Adidas has indicated that their own deal with Zouma, which began last year, will be cancelled.

‘We have conducted our inquiry and can confirm Kurt Zouma is no longer an adidas contracted athlete,’ Adidas said in a statement.

West Ham said in a statement on Wednesday that Zouma is “very regretful” and “completely cooperating” with the RSPCA’s investigation.

The statement added, “West Ham United can confirm that the club is supporting an RSPCA inquiry into Kurt Zouma’s behavior in the video released online this week.”
