6 Top Players Who Could Go Back To Their Former Clubs This Summer

Manchester united have confirmed that they won’t be renewing Paul Pogba’s contract. The French Midfielder will now leave the club after he made just 10 goal contributions in 27 appearances in the recently concluded 2021/22 season. Paul Pogba could be going back to his former club Juventus.

Juventus was the club where Pogba made 74 goal contributions in 178 appearances before he sealed his big move to Manchester united. The French Midfielder won just three titles at Manchester United and could likely move back to Juventus where he won eight trophies. Juventus will not pay any transfer fee for Pogba as he is a free agent but they will need to agree on a suitable wage.

After Arsenal did away with Aubameyang in the winter transfer window, they will likely do the same to Alexandre Lacazette who became free agent this summer. They are already pursuing Gabriel Jesus and this shows that they won’t be renewing Lacazette deals as they intend playing Nketiah or Martinelli in Lacazette’s position. Lacazette made 14 goal contributions in 36 appearances for Arsenal in the 2021/22 season and there are speculation that he might move back to Lyon this summer.

However, the 35-year old Luis Suarez has completed his second year at Atletico Madrid and won’t be playing for the Spanish club next season. There are rumors that Luis Suarez could go back to Barcelona but with the Recent linkage of Lewandowski to the Spanish club, it might not be possible to see the Uruguayan striker return back to the club.

Moreso Christian Eriksen has been major speculation for Antonio Conte’s side. After the Denmark professional made 5 goal contributions in 11 appearances for Brentford this season, he is likely to seek for a move back to his former club Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Another player who could be going back to Tottenham in the summer is Gareth Bale. The Welsh winger has ended his nine years spell at Real Madrid. Bale made a total 170 goal contributions in 258 appearances for Real Madrid, Winning 19 trophies with the Spanish club. Bale started his career at Real Madrid on a regular first team and ended it as an unused substitute.

However, Gareth Bale only made a goal contribution in 7 appearances for Real Madrid in the 2021/22 season and could now head back to Tottenham Hotspur, which is a club he came to the limelight before Real Madrid acquired him.
