5 Stars Who Are Unlikely To Win 2022 Ballon d’Or Award

The Ballon d’Or is the most important award for a player in football. It’s the dream of every football player to be known as the best in the world. In the history of the game, only a very few of the best players have had the chance to hold the Ballon d’Or trophy in their hands.

French news magazine France Football gives the Ballon d’Or to the best player in the world each year. The winner is chosen by a group of people who work for the media, national team captains, and coaches.

Messi won a record seventh Ballon d’Or in 2021, making him the first player to win seven awards at the same time. Races are always exciting, but this time we saw one that was almost impossible to predict. This year is going to be no different. There are a lot of early favorites who are thought to be going on to win the award.

Here are five stars who aren’t likely to win the Ballon d’Or this year

  • Erling Haaland

As of right now, Erling Haaland is the most sought-after striker in the world. He is only 21 years old, but he has already become one of the best marksmen in the game. The Norwegian international is a goal-scoring machine who can’t seem to stop getting on the score sheet.

Haaland has only played 20 games in the 2021-22 season so far because of a number of injuries and fitness problems. He has scored 23 goals and made six assists in the past. This time, Haaland is not likely to be in the Ballon d’Or race.

He doesn’t have a good chance of winning the Ballon d’Or because trophies have a lot of weight when it comes to winning the award. Norway did not make it to the FIFA World Cup in 2022. In the past, Dortmund had already been kicked out of both the Champions League and the DFB Pokal.

They are also nine points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga table, which means that they aren’t likely to be German champions at the end of the season. This is why.

  • Jorginho

This is how it went for Jorginho in 2021: It was a great year for him! The Chelsea midfielder was a big part of the Blues’ victory in the Champions League. He used that rich vein of form to do the same thing for Italy at Euro 2020. As a player, Jorginho was important to Italy’s success in the regional competition as well.

In the last Ballon d’Or race, he came in as high as third place, but he didn’t get the award. There has been a decline in Jorginho’s influence in the 2021–22 season, and Chelsea haven’t been the dominant team that we thought they would be when we first saw them.

Nine goals in 35 games for the Blues have come from Jorginho, who takes penalties for them. Even though he won two major awards and did well last year, he could only finish third. He isn’t likely to be in the running for the Ballon d’Or this year because of how bad his season has been so far.

  • Neymar Jr.

Neymar came in 16th place last year in the race for the Ballon d’Or award. He had a few injuries that kept him from playing much in the 2020–21 season. Neymar was also on the Brazil team that lost to Argentina in the Copa America final in 2021.

There have been almost four months of this campaign that the 30-year-old hasn’t played. Even though he can make magic happen, he hasn’t been able to reach the levels that were expected of him so far this term. In the round of 16, PSG were kicked out of the Champions League.

This season for PSG, Neymar hasn’t done very well. When he has played in 19 games in all kinds of competition, he has only scored four goals and made five assists. The Brazilian international isn’t likely to be in the running for the Ballon d’Or unless he has a great season.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo

He is the player who has won the second-most Ballon d’Or awards in history. He has five Ballon d’Ors, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be able to get any more.

Ronaldo did a lot of great things for Manchester United in the first half of the 2021-22 season. However, in the second half of the season, he lost a lot of form. They aren’t likely to win any silverware this season.

In both the League Cup and the FA Cup, they were knocked out early on. They are having a hard time getting into the top four in the Premier League right now.

On top of that, Portugal will have to win the playoffs to make it to the World Cup in 2022 as well. All in all, this year is not going as planned for Ronaldo.

He has scored just 15 goals and made three assists in 31 appearances in all competitions, so he isn’t going to get in because of his own skills.

  • Lionel Messi

Lionel Messi’s magic isn’t working the way it used to, and that’s a shame. He has been getting a lot of flak this season for not being a big player. That was true when PSG lost to Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Most people agree that PSG’s Kylian Mbappe has led them to the top of the table, but Messi is likely to win the Ligue 1 title.

The 34-year-old has only scored seven goals and made 11 assists in 25 games for PSG this season. He has had a lot of poor performances this season, even though his numbers are good. Messi looks like a shadow of the player he used to be.
