The game of football has witnessed lots of action over the years. The unthinkable has also happened before in the past which some believe may never happen again.
There are some records that have been set by some players which some believe may never happen again. Here are some of these records:
1. Most goals scored in a calendar year
Barcelona’s former player and legend Lionel Messi scored a total of 91 goals for club and country in the year 2012. This record has not been close to that of any other player since that time.
2. Most international goals
Cristiano Ronaldo recently captured the title as the highest international goalscorer of all time with 115 goals in 186 games. He originally overtook the initial record of 106. No player has reached up to 90 goals till now.
3. Most World Cup medals
Brazilian legend Pele has captured three out of the total of five world Cups Brazil has won in the competition.
4. Most goals scored in the English Championship
Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a whooping 43 goals in 44 games as Fulham secured promotion to the Premier League for next season.
5. Most goals in La Liga
Lionel Messi holds yet another record as he is the highest goalscorer of all time in LaLiga with 474 goals.
