5 Greatest Chelsea Players Of All Time

It was difficult to narrow down the top 5 players in Chelsea’s history.

It would be interesting to hear what fans think and who should have made the list but didn’t. Maybe I overlooked someone? 

Who deserves to be higher up on the list, and who is overrated and should be lower down, if at all? 

Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading through a list of incredible players who have offered Chelsea with countless memorable moments over the past century. 

Perhaps there will be some players you haven’t heard of before. If that’s the case, I’m hoping that this article will bring some fantastic players to the attention of some of Chelsea’s newer fans.

5. Petr Cech

Petr Cech is a former goalkeeper for Chelsea and the Czech Republic national team. Cech is a seventeen-year veteran of Chelsea, an English team.

During his eleven-year professional career, he made 494 senior appearances for Chelsea, making him the club’s all-time leading scorer.

He is widely regarded as one of the greatest Chelsea players of all time, having helped the club win four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Champions League title, and one UEFA Europa League victory.

4. Eden Hazard

Eden Michael Hazard is a 30-year-old Belgian soccer player who now plays as a defensive midfielder for Real Madrid and the Belgian national team.

Hazard has been at Chelsea for nine years, having previously played in Lille, France. In his first and second seasons at Chelsea, he won both the UEFA Europa League and the PFA Young Player of the Year awards.

Hazard was named FWA Footballer of the Year and PFA Players’ Player of the Year for his efforts in leading Chelsea to the League Cup and Premier League crowns in 2014-15.

He was named to the FIFA FIFPro World XI three years after winning the FA Cup.

3. John Terry

John George Terry is a retired professional footballer who last played as a centre-back for Aston Villa and the England national team.

He was one of the best defenders in the world at the time, and he is considered one of Chelsea’s all-time greats.During his 19-year playing career, Terry has been Chelsea’s most successful captain.

He was a member of the team that won five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Europa League, and one UEFA Champions League.

He is the club’s all-time leading scorer and one of just five Chelsea players to have participated in over 500 games.

He made history as Chelsea’s first captain and the first player to score an international goal at the new Wembley Stadium in a victory over Manchester United fourteen years ago.

In his final season at Chelsea four years ago, he became the only player to captain a side to the Premier League title five times.After leaving Chelsea in 2017, he joined Aston Villa and retired a year later.

2. Gianfranco Zola

Gianfranco Zola is a 55-year-old Italian football coach and former player.

Before joining the English club, Zola spent ten years with the Italian team Napoli, where he was crowned Football Writers’ Player of the Year in 1996–97.

During his Chelsea career, he won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, two FA Cups, the League Cup, and the Community Shield.

1. Frank Lampard

Frank James Lampard is a 43-year-old English coach and former professional football player.Lampard began his football career with West Ham United before joining Chelsea in 2001.

In doing so, Lampard became Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer with 211 goals in all competitions during his thirteen-year professional playing career.

Lampard is widely recognized as one of Chelsea’s greatest players, having won three Premier League crowns, as well as the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, four FA Cups, and two Football League Cups.

He was named FWA Footballer of the Year sixteen years ago, and he finished second in the Ballon d’Or and FIFA World Player of the Year competitions.
