Unarguably one of the greatest manager in the world and arguably one of the greatest of all time, Pep Guardiola have achieved several successes at every club he has been to.
He has signed for three clubs so far in his managerial career and has bought and sold out some terrific talents.
However, in this article, we will be concentrating on the top five players he has sold so far in his managerial career.
- Samuel Eto’o
Samuel is undoubtedly one of the greatest strikers of his generation. The Cameroonian spent four years at Barcelona but played in one season under Pep Guardiola’s era.
He was a regular starter in the Catalan side which won a treble that year but ultimately, he left the club for Inter Milan on a swapped deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic the following season.
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Ibrahimovic was signed by Barcelona for €40 million + Samuel Eto’o from inter Milan in 2009.
However, his time with the Blaugrana wasn’t always great. After having a great first six months spell at the club, the striker was bench more often than he would have wanted, and this forced him to seal a move to AC Milan the following summer.
Without an iota of doubt, Ronaldinho is one of the greatest footballers to have graced the Football pitch. The Brazilian was just 28-years when Guardiola signed for Barcelona. As soon as the Spaniard manager came in, he decided to sell the forward because he was unhappy with his off-field performance.
Nevertheless, Ronaldinho was an extraordinary player at Barcelona, but the 2007/08 season was his worst at the club as he had to endure many injuries concerns.
- Toni Kross
The decision FC Bayern Munich and Pep Guardiola made to sell Toni Kross to Real Madrid in 2014 was bewildering to say.
Having just won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Germany, Toni returned to Bayern with talks of a new contract renewal.
However, he was not given what he wanted and was later sold to Real Madrid for a mere fee of €25 million.
Nevertheless, we all know the successes the former German player has had since joining the Los Blancos in 2014. it means that his move of €25 million was a loss to Bayern Munich, as they would have gotten more from his head.
- Yaya Toure
Before meeting at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola and Yaya Toure weren’t the best of friends in Barcelona. At Camp Nou, it’s believed that Yaya Toure was often being ignored by Pep Guardiola and it was this that made him leave the club.
