5 Ghanaian Players Who Have Won The UEFA Champions League

A lot of Ghanaian players have won the UEFA Champions League as far as the European league is concern.
In this article, we will limit ourselves to five (5) Ghanaian players who have won the UEFA Champions League.
1. ABEDI “AYEW” PELE
When Marseille won the UCL in the 1992/93 season, Abedi ‘Pele’ Ayew made history as the first Ghanaian player to collect the cup under Raymond Goethals, who holds the distinction for being the oldest manager to win the UCL.
2. SULLEY MUNTARI
Sulley Muntari clinched the prestigious trophy while playing for Inter Milan in the 2009/10 season when Inter Milan defeated Bayern Munich in the final.
3. IBRAHIM TANKO
In the 1996/97 season, Ibrahim Tanko, who was playing for Dortmund at the time, became the second Ghanaian to win the UCL trophy when Dortmund defeated Juventus in the final.
4. MICHAEL ESSIEN
Essien is the latest Ghanaian to achieve the feat. He was a part of the Chelsea squad that won the UCL in the 2011/12 season.
5. SAMUEL KUFFOUR
Samuel Kuffour’s Bayern Munich finally won the UCL after defeating Valencia in the final two years after losing in the final to Manchester United.
