5 Best Signing Made By Jose Mourinho In His Managerial Career

Jose is unarguably one of the greatest coaches in the history of the sport, with the Portuguese manager winning several league titles across Europe and UEFA Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan. He recently guided A.S. ROMA to their first ever European trophy in their history and became the first manager to win all UEFA domestic competitions.

He has managed a number of great players, and here, we will be looking at the five best signings in has made so far.

  • Didier Drogba (Marseille – Chelsea)

One of the greatest players in the Premier League history, there is no doubt that Didier Drogba was one of the metronomes of Chelsea’s success across Europe while he was at the club.   • Wesley Sneijder (Real Madrid – Inter Milan)

Upon Sneijder’s arrival at inter Milan, he had a terrible season at Real Madrid but would soon show the Los Blancos what they were missing.

In his debut season at Inter, he won the treble while also leading Netherland to the final of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where there unavoidably lost 1-0 to Brazil. He registered 16 goals and 15 assists across the course of that season, cementing his status as one of the best Midfielder in the world.

  • Samuel Eto’o (Barcelona – Inter Milan)

Samuel is another big name that hit the ground running when he arrived at Inter Milan in 2009. As if you need reminding, Barcelona paid Inter Milan €40 million plus Samuel Eto’o for Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2019. Something they definitely regretted later, considering that the Swedish striker was a waste of time at the club after a good first six months.

However, While Inter Jose Mourinho did not want to lose Ibrahimovic for Samuel Eto’o, he never thought that the Cameroonian would have such an impact at inter. Samuel Eto’o proved to be a brilliant signing at Inter Milan, as he netted 16 goals in his debut season and 37 goals in the next.

  • Ashley Cole (Arsenal- Chelsea)

There is no doubt that Ashley Cole is one of the best left-back in Premier League history. Chelsea got a steal for Ashley Cole in 2006 when they signed him from Arsenal for a mere fee of £5 million plus Williams Gallas. Ashley Cole hit instant success at Chelsea and was a major headache to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo.

  • Ricardo Carvalho (Porto – Chelsea)

Ricardo Carvalho doesn’t get the full credit he deserves for the work he did at Chelsea. The defender was a key man in Chelsea’s 2006 title-winning Triumph and was one of the best defenders at Stamford Bridge. His magnificent unseen work made the Portuguese manager take him with him to Real Madrid when he joined the club in 2010.
