The foreign ministry of Ghana has issued an advisory to its nationals studying in Ukraine to avoid being stuck in their dormitories or in government-designated safe places.
According to the Ghanaian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, about a thousand Ghanaians are currently studying or working in Ukraine, and the ministry is “seriously worried” about their safety.
The national student union of Ghana (NUGS) is calling for a more sustainable solution, asking for an immediate flight of all Ghanaian students from the crisis zone.
“We believe the mechanism used to remove students from China during the peak of the Covid-19 outbreak may be applied,” NUGS said in a statement.
