The Ga Mantse is soliciting the assistance of President Nana Addo to rename Greater Accra Region to Ga-Adangbe Region.
The plan, according to the chief, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru, is aimed to promote Ga State unity. He made this remark when speaking at a meeting during a courtesy call by President Akufo-Addo.
He also urged the President to intervene in the gradual phase-out of Ga Adange language in his region’s schools. Many schools in the Greater Accra Region, he claims, no longer teach the Ga Adange language.
The President has assured the chief that he will do everything in his ability to assist unifying the Ga State. He went on to say that if the Ga state is united, it will assist create a conducive environment. This would make it easier for the central government to function and raise people’s living standards.
President Akuffo-Addo regards Ga Mantse’s proposal as a positive move and has offered to assist him. Nana Addo is looking forward to working with traditional authority as president. This is to aid in the transformation of the country.
