The restrictions on the use of tricycles populary known as Aboboyaa on the Accra-Tema motorway ends today. This initiative is part of “Making Accra Work” Agenda by the Regional Minister Hon. Henry Quartey.
The minister pointed out some parts of the constitution that empowers assemblies to take such decisions. He explained that these tricycles are hazards on the roads.
Hon. Henry said these riders mostly do not have driver’s license and also the cycles are not properly insured. He added that some also dump refuse in the middle of the Accra-Tema motorway.
According to him, riders who flout this directive will have their bikes and tricycles seized. He added that victims will have a month to explain why their bikes should not be disposed of.
The minister said that all assemblies that these motorway falls within have endorsed this restriction. They are, La Dadekotopon, Ledzekuku, Tema West, Tema, Ashiaman and Adentan district assemblies.
