Government payroll is full, venture into entrepreneurship – Ken Ofori Atta

Hon. Ken Ofori Atta has advised graduates to venture into entrepreneurship. According to the finance minister, government payroll is full. He advised the 2021 graduating class of UPSA.

It is unsustainable to keep on adding to employment numbers in the public sector. Thus, graduates must create their own jobs.

He said that it is government’s duty to create the needed enabling environment, establish micro-stability and ensure citizens have the appropriate skill set.

Ofori Atta further stated that government spends 60% of revenue in paying around 650,000 employees which is not is not sustainable.

According to the minister, education is a social mobility and also an economic and social prosperity. Graduates should acknowledge the privilege of assessing tertiary education and venture into entrepreneurship after school.

He further urged them to impact society through the transformation and renewal of their minds.
