The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) is ranked 12th among the best universities in Africa in the USNews and World Report Global Universities Rankings for 2022.
According to a report published by Myjoyonline, the University of Ghana was ranked 29th in the world for research performance and ratings by members of the academic community.
The KNUST and UG were placed 587th and 916th in the world, respectively, according to the report.
KNUST is also believed to have received 49.9 points in Social Sciences and Public Health, as well as 277th in Clinical Medicine. The University of Ghana received a global score of 41.4, but outperformed KNUST in Social Sciences and Public Health with an overall score of 41.6, placing it 326th internationally, according to the report.
While no public institution in Ghana entered the top 10, the UG ranks at number 566 in the field of Clinical Medicine, falling behind KNUST, according to the report.
The University of Cape Coast (UCC), the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), and other tertiary institutions in Ghana, on the other hand, were not included in the rankings.
However, UCC, was ranked first in Ghana and first in West Africa in the Times Higher Education annual rankings for 2022. The university was also ranked among the top five universities in Africa.
