The NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, has stated that the educational system is currently in disarray. Because the government has failed to release four tranches of capitation grants to the schools. He claims headmasters are borrowing to run their institutions.
The administration has also failed to send textbooks to basic schools in order to ensure that teaching and learning occur smoothly. He continued, “Our education system is in shambles; we can’t even get text books for primary school children.”
There have been no text books for our children in the basic schools for the past two years since the introduction of the new curriculum. The capitation grant has been in arrears for about a year, in four tranches.

Principals are taking loans in order to run the school. Also, releases to the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) have been missing for nearly a year.
